Linda Hein briefly joined the Board this month as Treasurer, but then her current employer decided that their lobbying priorities conflict with ours, so she had to step down. She is doing volunteer bookkeeping for us, but won't have a report ready till November.

LITIGATION WORKING GROUP REPORT (AM)

New brief being worked on in United States v. Johnson (cert. to SCOTUS), seeking review of an important Fourth Amendment question that has split the courts of appeals and several state high courts. The question is whether police conduct a Fourth Amendment search of a home (thus requiring consent or a warrant) when they use a drug-detection canine to sniff the door of an apartment home in a multiunit building to search for contraband inside.

New member for LitWG: Nicole Plante (Yale Law); current members Mahesha Subbaraman (chair), Alex Marthews, Noah Chauvin, Aaron Jacobowitz, Christina Delgado.

In January, we now expect to welcome Sonia Mahajan, a 3L at Harvard Law School, who will do an externship with us.
